Task Force 47 "GREYHOUND"
Task Force 47 "GREYHOUND" arrived at Starbase-398 at a moment when the defensive group surrounding the station was still keeping the Borg cube at a distance.
USS Agatha King, under the command of Admiral Theraa Sh'Zhovek, together with the other ships already present in the area before the arrival of Task Force 47, had established a solid defensive line around the station. Their objective was to prevent the cube from approaching Starbase-398 while simultaneously buying enough time for a possible evacuation of the station.
The arrival of the seven ships changed the balance of forces in the area.
USS Lexington, USS Endeavour, USS Essex, USS Yorktown, and USS Aquitania immediately began taking up combat positions between the station and the Borg cube. The ships gradually expanded their formation, establishing a new defensive formation and preparing to take over the primary engagement.
Lexington, under the command of James Hawkins, assumed the central position in the formation. Endeavour, commanded by Eleanore Hawkins, took the left sector, while Essex, under the command of David Hawkins, moved to the opposite vector. Yorktown, commanded by George Hawkins, and Aquitania, under the command of Kra'thamar Hawkins, completed the formation and closed the space in front of the station.
And Task Force 47 waited for the order to attack. Their weapons systems were brought to standby. Phasers were charged, torpedo systems armed, and the tactical sensors of all five vessels began sharing data of the cube. The attack, however, had not yet begun.
The priority during the first minutes was stabilizing the situation around the station.
USS Telemachus, under the command of Mike Hawkins, moved closer to the station and began evacuation and medical operations. Transporter systems were switched to emergency protocols, while medical teams, biobeds, and additional facilities were prepared to receive casualties.
At the same time, USS Avalon, under the command of Captain Thryiss Ozosi, began its own rescue operations. Her first officer, Commander Rebecca Hawkins, coordinated technical support for the station and the preparation of its advanced transporter systems. Avalon began receiving data on the condition of individual station sectors and identifying areas designated for priority evacuation.
The evacuation proceeded gradually. Wounded personnel, civilian staff, and members of the crews of ships already engaged in the battle were given priority for transport. Telemachus received the evacuees and provided them with medical care, while Avalon supported the station itself and its infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Agatha King and the original defensive forces began slowly withdrawing from their immediate combat positions.
This was not a retreat from the system. The objective was to protect the station and neutralize the Borg threat.
And Task Force 47 waited for the order to attack.
It was also necessary to clear space for the "Greyhound" task force while allowing the exhausted ships to replenish their shields, stabilize damaged systems, and prepare their crews for the next phase of the engagement. Agatha King therefore gradually altered course and, together with the other defensive vessels, began moving away from the main contact.
Task Force 47 took their position.
Lexington, Endeavour, Essex, Yorktown, and Aquitania remained between the starbase and the cube, maintaining the newly established defensive formation.
The station had gained the time it needed to continue the evacuation.
Agatha King and the other original defenders had gained time to recover.
And Task Force 47 had gained the space it needed to prepare for the attack.
In the space surrounding Starbase-398, a clear division gradually formed between rescue and combat operations. Telemachus and Avalon continued working alongside the station, while the remaining five ships of the Greyhound task force held their position against the cube.
And Task Force 47 waited for the order to attack.
All ships were ready.
Weapons systems were active.
The formation was complete.
The original defensive group was withdrawing from direct contact.
